Sustainability? We’ve got it covered.
Our principle: if it’s not sustainable, it’s not TIN INN. Join us on our journey and see everything we’re tackling.
Stay with a clear conscience.
A night at TIN INN causes just 3.8 kg CO₂e — TÜV-certified and measured by Planted. So you travel noticeably lighter, without giving up any comfort.
From the journey, for the journey.
What do you do with shipping containers that are 10 to 15 years old and have already seen the whole world? Build hotels! Every TIN INN consists of fully modernised, comfortably furnished containers.
Instead of starting from scratch and wasting building materials, we make use of what already exists. In exclusive collaboration with Containerwerk, we rescue decommissioned globetrotters from the scrap press — and give them a new purpose as cutting-edge hotel rooms.
From foundation to rooftop.
Low embodied energy
Using second-hand shipping containers dramatically reduces manufacturing energy. Containerwerk has also developed a unique insulation process. And: we stand on strip foundations — the natural soil is disturbed as little as possible.
Renewable raw materials
Insulation uses the patented PUR system made from over 50 % renewable raw materials — completely safe for health. The same material is found in trainers and mattresses.
State-of-the-art technology
Our self-developed technical container houses one of the most efficient heat pumps available. Underfloor heating in the bathroom and a dedicated climate ceiling heat and cool efficiently — for an optimal indoor climate.
Renewable energy
The flat roofs are perfect for solar — in the future we plan to equip all roofs and generate the electricity for your stay ourselves. We are also working on green roofs for a better urban climate.
Right down to the smallest detail.
Sustainability is in the details at TIN INN — from the toilet paper to the carpet. A few examples:
Our toilet paper is made from 100 % recycled cardboard — and carries a message: with Goldeimer we advocate for clean toilets worldwide.
The moveable designer furniture are returns from retailer Design Bestseller — otherwise they’d collect dust in a warehouse. Far too good for that.
Even our bin bags are special: “Wildbags” by Wildplastic, made from wild plastic waste collected by fairly paid teams.
Our carpet by Object Carpet is Made in Germany — and is made from old fishing nets that ended up in the ocean.
Freshly washed, with a linen-look finish: we say “adieu” to energy-hungry ironing and save a lot of energy in the process. The environment is grateful.
Our built-in furniture made from fast-growing bamboo is assembled in-house at Containerwerk in Wassenberg. Short supply chains, no deforestation of valuable forests.
“In the interior fit-out we rely on first-class, long-lasting design and sustainable materials.”
