STICKING TO OUR PRINCIPLES

Sustainability? WE CAN ACHIEVE IT.

Our basic principle: if it’s not sustainable, it’s not TIN INN! We’d like to show you how we do things – accompany us on our path to sustainability. What can we improve?

UPCYCLING SHIPPING CONTAINERS

FROM TRAVELS FOR TRAVELS

What can you do with 10- to 15-year-old shipping containers that have already seen the whole world? Build hotels! Each TIN INN consists of completely modernised, comfortably furnished shipping containers. From old to new: instead of starting from scratch and wasting loads of building material, we use existing material and conjure up something new out of it. In exclusive cooperation with the specialists from Containerwerk, we rescue these decommissioned circumnavigators from the scrap baling press and give them a new, long-term purpose as ultra-modern hotel rooms. What’s it like to sleep in a box like that? Give it a try!

SUSTAINABLY THOUGHT OUT & PLANNED

In this video, co-founder and CEO Nico Sauerland shows you how we implement sustainability in our TIN INNs, straight from the factory halls in Wassenberg.

WHAT WE DO FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

What makes TIN INN sustainable?

Low grey energy

By employing used shipping containers, the energy consumed during construction of the hotel is massively reduced. Even during production in our partner Containerwerk’s own factory, meticulous attention is paid to an optimised, reduced use of materials.

Minimal environmental impact

Strip foundations are used to construct our buildings. In this way, we achieve the smallest possible surface sealing. This means that the natural ground is covered and disturbed as little as possible by the structure.

Renewable energy

We obtain TÜV-certified green electricity from 100% wind and solar power. And in future, our own, state-of-the-art photovoltaic systems will supply us with regenerative energy.

Renewable raw materials

Our buildings are insulated in an energy efficient way with the patented PUR system, made of more than 50% renewable raw materials. Absolutely harmless to health: the same material can also be found in trainers and mattresses.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

With our sustainability strategy, we are helping to achieve the With our sustainability strategy, we are helping to achieve the The SDGs are part of the UN’s 2030 Agenda – a global plan to promote sustainable peace and prosperity and protect our planet. Our focus is thus on 9 SDGs on which we have the greatest influence within the scope of our entrepreneurial activities.

OUR CLEANING CONCEPT

DECIDE FOR YOURSELF WHEN IT MAKES SENSE

We’ll let you have a say: here, you decide for yourself how often your room should be cleaned. Less is more – less water, less energy, less cleaning agent. Why do we do this? The water, electricity and gas consumption for the frequent washing of bedding, towels and the like that conventional hotels generate is a huge problem for the environment. We want to do things differently! Naturally, your room is professionally cleaned prior to your arrival. And again after a week. If you’d like your room cleaned during your stay, you are welcome to request this from us consciously and easily at no extra cost.

OUR MATERIALS

THE LITTLE AND THE BIG THINGS

All the materials we use are consistently sustainable – long-lasting and low in pollutants. From the interior design, which is made of partly recycled, partly second-hand materials for healthy living, to ecological cleaning agents. Give it a try – it really does feel better!

“WHEN IT COMES TO INTERIOR DESIGN, WE RELY ON FIRST-RATE, LONG-LASTING DESIGN AND SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS.”
